The trailer for this week’s throwback Thursday is for Andrei Tarkovsky’s 1979 film “Stalker” with performances by Alisa Freyndlikh, Aleksandr Kaydanovskiy, Anatoliy Solonitsyn, and Nikolay Grinko. Its synopsis from IMDB goes like this: A guide leads two men through an area known as the Zone to find a room that grants wishes. It wasn’t until last week that I heard about director Tarkovsky, his movies, and his influence on some of today’s modern directors of film. The premises for his movies are extremely interesting and his movies themselves are complete with spiritual and philosophical metaphors for real life. Tarkovsky’s movies aren’t for everyone (the characters speak in Russian), but it doesn’t hurt to look into a whole nother world of art ☺️.
